Michelle Morris, J.D.
Assistant Vice President, Private Client Advisor
Michelle is a private client advisor for Commerce Trust. She serves as a consultant and relationship manager providing clients with personalized objective advice and oversight across all our services including trust administration, financial advisory services, private banking, and investment management.
Michelle facilitates all aspects of relationship management for the client team including administering complex trusts, maintaining client communication, and coordinating with internal and external partners to deliver a superior client experience.
Michelle joined Commerce in 2024. A licensed attorney since 2011 in Missouri and the Western District of Missouri, she brings a wealth of legal experience to her role. Michelle spent eight years with the Jackson County Public Administrator’s Office, serving as an attorney, general counsel and the chief deputy public administrator. Her responsibilities included overseeing guardianship, conservatorship, and decedent estate administration, as well as managing fiduciary liability litigation.
Prior to her public service, Michelle was a judicial law clerk for two esteemed judges in the Jackson County circuit court. Her legal career began as a tax law researcher at a prominent tax office.
She has her Bachelor of Business Administration and Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She is part of the Kansas City Pet Project; a student law academy mentor and a committee member for the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation.
